Aromatherapy Associates’ Intensive Muscle Release at the Dorchester Best for: Tight, stressed muscles in need of a soothing restorative boost

The buzz: As you head to the basement at the Dorchester, a decadent oasis awaits you; the spa is bright and breezy and staff are super-friendly and attentive. The changing area is on a par with an old-world powder room and the fluffy robe and goodie-bag, complete with pre-and-post spa essentials (hair bands, make-up removal pads, body lotion) have us prepped and ready to unwind. The massage itself combine Swedish and cross-muscle techniques, stretching and draining tired aches and pains into oblivion. The Aromatherapy Associates essential oils including black pepper, rosemary and ginger warm the muscles into submission while calming lavender banishes inflammation and soothes stressed-heads.

The Verdict: Dashing across London in rush-hour may not be conducive to relaxation, but the moment we stepped into the world-famous hotel, we were ready to kick back like the A-list. Usually lasting 60 minutes, our therapist customised her technique to 40 – but we didn’t wasn’t it to end, ever, and left feeling supple and centred with a oh-so-sensual aroma.

SPA at PALACE HOTEL - Gstaad - Switzerland

The Palace Spa features authentic decor and ambiance which radiate a magical charm.

Its exclusive facilities are spread over 1800 m² and include eight treatment rooms, a Private Spa Suite, saunas and steam baths, relaxation areas with incredible views, an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with Jacuzzi, a state-of-the-art gym, a Pilates Studio and a unique hammam experience with seven rooms. With this major investment we created an exclusive and extraordinary wellness centre, which exceeds the expectations of even the most discerning spa connoisseurs.

One priority was to bring the mountain feeling into the spa. Therefore a 60-metre-long stone wall was built with granite from the nearby Blausee region in the Bernese Oberland. Over 50 tons of rock were cut into small pieces and assembled into a stunning architectural masterpiece.

Further highlights are the comfortable lounge with its fireplace and the spectacular mountain view.

The spa admission fee for non-hotel guests is CHF 60.00 per day, and a reservation is necessary. The minimum age for spa access is 16 years (including winter outdoor pool); children under 16 years are allowed to use the indoor swimming pool area when accompanied by an adult.
